After two original albums, in March 2014 Peter recorded another album at Custom34 Studio. “MOON CITY” is slightly different from his previous productions. It is still a guitar album, referring to Piotr’s previous compositions, kept in the style of progressive rock and fusion. This time, however, the electric guitar is not the only and dominant component of the arrangement. The idea was to combine Piotr’s musical aesthetics and sensitivity with the feeling of an outstanding jazz pianist and arranger Krzysztof Herdzin (Academy Award winner for the orchestration of Jan A.P. Kaczmarek’s music – “Dreamer”) and Tomasz Kukurba – viola player, associated so far mainly with the KROKE trio (known for performances all over the world, also with Nigel Kennedy and Peter Gabriel). This resulted in a completely new, original quality; the combination of an electric guitar with a classical viola is an extremely rare phenomenon and, in the case of Polish instrumental music, something completely new.
“MOON CITY” is a very diversified album in terms of colors and sounds; apart from great guitar solos, in which one can find elements characteristic for Jeff Beck, Allan Holdsworth, Gary Moor, Steve Lukather, we have here sophisticated keyboard parts, for which Krzysztof Herdzin is famous, as well as fairy-tale, lyrical stories painted by Tomasz Kukurba with a viola. The entire arrangement was prepared by music producer Krzysztof Herdzin, who said of this production:
“My name is already on over 190 albums, and this is the first time I’ve tackled music on the borderline of progressive rock and fusion. I arranged and produced the whole album, inviting my musicians from the jazz trio: Robert Kubiszyn and Cezary Konrad. It is very energetic, colorful, sometimes with rock, sometimes with blues claw. There are jazzy solos, cinematic atmosphere with a lot of ambient colors from the keyboards. I think this will be a very interesting album for fans of Gary Moore, Jeff Beck and Allan Holdsworth. This is my most unusual production in my entire professional career to date. Guitar music, non-jazz music. A great challenge for a producer, but also a joy. After all, I love rock, I love progressive rock, finally I could do something like this. You will all be surprised!”.
